Ulthera

What Is Ulthera?

Skin collagen weakens with age and is damaged further due to sun.  This results in looseness and sagging of the skin that may necessitate a surgical facelift.  Ulthera is the latest alternative to surgical face and neck lifting procedure. Highly focused ultrasound waves target fibroblasts cells in the skin responsible for creating new collagen.   Initially in 2009 FDA cleared this procedure for skin tightening.  In 2016 Ulthera is used on the brow, face, neck, under the chin and chest (décolletage).

Who Is A Great Candidate for Ulthera?

Ultherapy is not a replacement for a surgical facelift; there are many people who seek non-invasive (non-surgical) skin lifting and tightening. Ultherapy is appropriate for those whose skin is starting to show some degree of laxity or “looseness” or potentially can be used as a preventative measure to delay skin laxity and sagging.  Typically, those in their thirties and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are ideal candidates.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is minimal to no downtime with this treatment.  You can resume normal activities immediately after a session. Ultherapy doesn’t cause injury to the skin surface, and only targets the deeper structures. After your treatment, you are able to return to normal activities immediately, not required to stay out of the sun, and there is no post treatment care you will need to conduct.

Does Ulthera Hurt?

Comfort levels during the procedure vary from person to person. Most clients feel the treatment is mildly to moderately painful.  Typically clients take either Tylenol or Ibuprofen (600 to 800mg) 1-2 hours prior to treatment.  We also provide other means of pain relief for those who have very low tolerance.  These include topical cream, anesthetic nerve block and other medications.

How Long Does Ulthera Take?

Treatment time is depends on the number of areas being treated.  Typically face and neck procedure take about 60-90 minutes.

How Long Does it Take to See Results from Ultherapy?

There is an initial boost in the appearance of your face within the first few weeks, but the results will only continue to get better over time.   Over the next 2-3 months treated skin will gradually appear younger and tighter, helping to improve issues such as jowls, facial wrinkles, neck bands, and sagging skin.
